Abstract

This article presents the linguistic contributions of the renowned Urdu linguist Prof. Dr. Mirza Khalil Ahmad Baig who is the author of more than twenty books. He is one of the major authors who contributed towards Urdu linguistics, postmodern theory and stylistics. According to Mr. Baig, the beginning of Khadi Boli is the actual beginning of Urdu and the linguistic theory regarding the beginning and evolution of Urdu presented by Dr. Masud Husain Khan is the most acceptable theory in the history of Urdu language. His thoughts reflect the sociolinguistic and psycholinguistic perspectives of Hindi and Urdu. He is one of the leading figures in the field of Urdu linguistics whose approach is purely scientific and his research and analysis is based on the principles of modern linguistics. Zaban, Usloob aur Usloobiyat, Urdu ki Lisani Tashkeel, Tanqeed aur Usloobiyati Tanqeed, Ek Bhasha Jo Mustarad Kar Di Gai, Masud Husain Khan: Ahwal-o-Asar and Lisani Masail-o-Mubahis are some of his marvelous books on latest issues and debates in Urdu liguistics.
