The history of Urdu literature witnessed the political & revolutionary poetry of Josh Malihabadi, the prominent revolutionary poet of India, fueled the movement of freedom against the British Empire in India. Josh encouraged the freedom fighters with his revolutionary poetry, written especially in the era of 1920 to 1947. The effect of his poetry can be gauged from statements of some literary elites and political leaders who claimed that they joined the subcontinent's freedom movement after reading or listening to the verses of Josh. His political ideas are coined on the grounds of humanity and the idea of amiable to humanity. He believes in the politics that deals with human beings and the creation of a welfare state. Josh preferred to stand against tyrants, illegitimate government, injustice, and class system. He wished to see his nation free from the British Empire. He wanted to get ended the malicious social system of his time. In this article, the researcher tried to highlight the political ideas of Josh, who was called a 'revolutionary poet ' during the freedom fight against the British Empire in India.
