In Urdu there are some lexicographic works that resemble thesauruses. But these works do not fulfil the requirements of a thesaurus in true sense. On the lines of the famous Roget's Thesaurus an Urdu thesaurus was developed by Rafiq Khawar, but it did not fully cover the multi-semantic needs of a comprehensive and modern Urdu thesaurus. This article, suggesting the compilation of a multi-semantic Urdu thesaurus, proposes the outline of a comprehensive, multi-semantic thesaurus that needs to be compiled. It also gives a few sample pages for the proposed thesaurus.
