PEER REVIEW POLICY
-
Double-Blind Process: URDU employs a rigorous double-blind peer-review system. This means that the identity of the author(s) is concealed from the reviewers, and the identity of the reviewers is concealed from the author(s) throughout the entire process.
-
Initial Internal Review: Upon submission, every manuscript undergoes an initial desk review by the Editorial Board to ensure it meets the journal’s scope, formatting requirements, and plagiarism standards (similarity index < 19%). Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria are rejected at the desk stage.
-
External Review: Manuscripts passing the initial stage are sent to at least two independent subject experts. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and are required to disclose any potential conflict of interest.
-
Review Criteria: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on its originality, methodological rigor, clarity of language, and contribution to the field of Urdu language and literature.
-
Review Timeline: The typical review process takes between 4 to 8 weeks. Authors may contact the Editor to inquire about the status if this period is exceeded.
-
Final Decision: The final decision (Acceptance, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Rejection) is made by the Editor-in-Chief, based on the reviewers' recommendations. In case of conflicting reviews, a third reviewer’s opinion may be sought.
-
Appeals: Authors have the right to appeal a rejection. Appeals must be submitted in writing with a point-by-point justification, which will then be reviewed by an independent member of the Editorial Board.
