Abstract
In district Aligarh an educational census was carried out, detailing the number of educational institutions working in the district and the number of registered students getting education there. Sir Syed Ahmed Khan had written a detailed report on the census and analysed its results and statistics. The report presents a true picture of the status of the Muslim and Hindu students in the area in those days. Sir Syed's views on the education too are vividly presented in the report. This paper reproduces the report with a note describing the background.
