Abstract
Abdul Majeed Salik and Ghulam Rasool Mehr were two writers, poets, researchers and journalists who played a vital role in shaping the public opinion through their writings, editorials and, ultimately, their own newspaper 'Inqelab'. But before launching 'Inqelab', both Salik and Mehr worked as editorial staff at 'Zamindar', the newspaper launched by Sirajuddin Khan, Zafar Ali Khan's father, and which was later owned and edited by Zafar Ali Khan. Salik and Mehr developed some differences with Zafar Ali Khan and had to quit their long-standing commitment and cordial relationship with 'Zamindar' and Zafar Ali Khan. This paper traces the background as well as the reasons for those differences and also describes the circumstances in which 'Inqelab' was launched and how it became a successful venture.
