Abstract
Masood Ashar is one of the senior-most short stories writers of Urdu. In his long literary career, Masood Ashar has published a large number of short stories and many of them depict a keen political awareness and a sense of attachment to the political environment in the country. His short stories have specific social, cultural and political ideas that need to be explained. This paper researches and analyses different Urdu short stories written by Masood Ashar and also explains the political and social backdrop against which these short stories were written.
