Abstract
Rafiq Khawar (1908-1990) was a poet, prose-writer and scholar. He edited ‘Maahe-e-Nau’, a literary Urdu magazine published by government of Pakistan’s information department. As editor he would receive letters from renowned writers and poets. This article proffers such letters written to Rafiq Khawar. The letter-writers include Jagan Nath Azad, Ibn-e-Insha, Abul Jalal Nadvi, Ashraf Suboohi, Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi and Intizar Hussain. These letters let the readers see through the persona and glimpses of some writers’ real faces can be seen. Some interesting information can also be extracted from these letters. The author has written footnotes with references and has explained some background where necessary.
