Abstract
Mir Taqi Mir is considered one of the greatest poets of Urdu. But it is a matter of concern that no authentic and definitive version of his complete, collected poetical works is available. Though there are a number of versions of his collected poetical works available but none can truly be called definitive and authentic. In this article the research and critical works on Mir by some notable researchers and critics of Urdu are discussed and evaluated. It is concluded in this article that Urdu's researchers and critics have always realized the need and importance of an authentic, annotated and authoritative version of Mir's complete poetical works but none has been able to meet the challenge and it still remains to be seen as to who takes up and accomplishes the monumental task.
