Abstract
Urdu novel and its preambles have been found in the third decade of 19th century. Early scholarly works have been disccussed the structure, form and subject matters of the newly emerged genre. This treasure-troove has been mounted up by the emergence of a magnum-opus by Ali Abbas Hussaini titled Urdu Main Novel ki Tanqeedi Tareekh. This article has traced down the early criticism of Urdu novels and how the writers have helped this form to grow in a new passage of time.
