Syed Abdul Hameed Adam  (1910-1981) was one of the famous Urdu Ghazal poet of 20th century. He promoted Urdu Ghazal when the trend to write Nazam was on a rise. He wrote many poetic collection. But he got more popularity by his collection Kharabaat. In this article, Adam's Ghazalia poetry of Kharabaat has been analysed with specific reference of Prosody. The Knowledge of Prosody is important in the writing of any poetic work. Prosody mainly deals with the rules that describe the diction and matrical structure of poetry. It was first coined by the Arab linguists then introduced to persian literature and finally included in Urdu literature as well. After a breif Prosodic analysis, it is described Adam's favourite meter which used in Kharabaat. This article deals with the various technicalities and a key to determine the place of Adam's poetry in the field of Art.
