Abstract

Baltistan is a very beautiful region stretched amongst the mountain ranges of Hindukush, Himalaya and Karakorum, in the extreme north of Pakistan. This beautiful region is significant for its Urdu language and literature. The tradition of Urdu Ghazal on the cyclorama of poetry in Baltistan is continued with its uniqueness and up-to-datedness. In this research, the beginning of Urdu poetry and it's evolution till 21st century have been analyzed. The poets (Ghazal writers) of Baltistan have, along side the tradition of Urdu poetry, represented their own era and milieu. The Ghazal writers of Baltistan have portrayed the traditional themes in a completely novel fashion while glipses of current affairs and social and political cyclorama can also be seen in their poems.
