If we examine the tradition of collective thought and art of the subcontinent, Bulleh Shah's poetry is a strong pillar of this tradition. The themes of unity of existence, self improvement, mysticism, real and imaginary love, avoidance of hypocrisy, divine knowledge, improvement of circumstances, awakening of the soul, vastness of the divine and observation of human psychology are common in his poetry.
