Abstract
Zikr-e-Khatm-ul-Mursaleen (Peace be upon him) is Naatiya Diwan of Tahir Sultani which is published in 2025. This Naatiya collection consists of 204 Naats. It begins with Naat having radeef (آ). According to the traditional principles of compiling a Diwan, the radif letters in Zikr e Khatm-ul-Mursaleen (PBUH) follow the alphabetical order. All the Naats in this collection are composed in the ghazal form. No other poetic genre besides naat has been included in this Diwan. Apart from this Diwan, Tahir Sultani has also authored a hamdia Diwan, five hamd collections, five naat collections, a complete anthology of manqabat, two selected works of hamd, three selected works of naat, five biographical/critical books, and two books combining prose and poetry. Tahir Sultani is referred to by various titles in literary circles, such as Ambassador of Hamd and Naat, Servant of Hamd and Naat, Legend of Urdu Hamd Literature and Mujahid of Hamd and Naat. In this Diwan, Tahir Sultani has demonstrated uniqueness and expertise in both the technical and intellectual aspects of naat poetry. His use of similes and metaphors, rhetorical devices, choice of words and phrases, language and expression as well as rhyme and refrain, all stand out as distinct and original. His poetry serves as a fine example of religious, ethical, aesthetic and linguistic values. His naats vividly portray the personality and character of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). In various naats, Tahir Sultani expresses deep love for the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), devotion to the Ahl-e-Bait, Sufi thought, and literary allusions, which all reflect his scholarly and literary background and intellectual depth. In this Article, the researcher has highlighted the characteristics of this Diwan by analyzing its technical and thematic features. The article is written in a research-oriented style. The researcher has presented a stylistic analysis by identifying various naats in alphabetical order based on the radif letters, following the structure of a dictionary. Just as the content of the book is unique, so too is the poet’s style and method. The linguistic aspects of the naatiya Diwan Zikr-e-Khatm-ul-Mursaleen (PBUH) indicate a rich variety of poetic meters (bahoor) employed throughout the collection.
