Abstract
As regarded one of the prominant cities of Pakistan, Karachi has been often called as a mini-Pakistan. In this research article, an account of academic and literary activities of Karachi before the emergence of Pakistan has been given. Literary history of Karachi from 1870 to the creation of Pakistan carries academic and literary heritage. In this article, social and cultural activities of the city in the perspective of its location, geographical background and history have been compiled in the light of authentic references. Literary gatherings, poetic sessions and activities held under educational institutions and literary organisations have also been presented in the research.
