Abstract

Mere Bhi Sanam Khanay published in 1940 is Quraat-ul-Ain’s First Novel. Despite being the first novel, one can see the maturity with reference to theme, characterization and plotting.

The Novel comprises of three Parts. In first, Chali Jae Mori Nayya, she has narrated the Hindu Muslim civilization.

In the Second Part, Dhanstay Huey Sahil, she has presented the differences between the Hindu Muslim two communities and the political views of the muslims. Whereas, in the Third section of the novel, Manzil-e-Laila, she has depicted the decline of the muslim elites as a result of partition. As a matter of fact, Qurat-ul-Ain wished for a united and peaceful Hindustan. Such harmony could not be maintained and as a result she experienced a severe mental shock. Mere Bhi Sanam Khanay depicts the creation of this state of mind.
