Abstract
Makatib-e-Ghaliab marks the inception of Arshi’s editorial journey, providing a valuable opportunity to study not only his initial editorial methods but also the subsequent development of his techniques. The first edition of Makatib was published in 1937, while the final edition, under Arshi’s direct supervision, appeared in 1949. Across these six editions, notable textual editorial, and technical variations emerged. The textual revisions were widely appreciated by various editors and scholars; whoever, Arshi's technical adjustments and the evolution of his editorial practices were largely overlooked, or the successive edition were simply regarded as reprints of the first. This paper seeks to explore the textual, technical, and editorial transformations across all editions of Arshi’s edited Makatib-e-Ghalib.
