Abstract

Ameer Khusrau, the great poet, prose writer, musician, Sufi, linguist and an intellectual, was arrested during a battle in Multan. Historians have given different accounts of Ameer Khusrau’s life and his arrest. One of such accounts is also attributed to Ameer Hasan Sajzi Dehlvi, a historian, writer and poet. The author of this article has proved that different narrations about Ameer Khusrau’s arrest have many inaccuracies and some of the writers have either misunderstood or misquoted the historians. The author feels that Ameer Khusrau, despite his genius, has not been treated fairly in the annals of history. He has proved with historical evidence in this article that many things and events quoted about Ameer Khusrau and his arrest are incorrect or only have half truths.
