Abstract

Shamsur Rahman Farooqi's novel Kai chand the sar-e-aasmaan created a great interest and also stirred some debates in the literary circles because of its depiction of subcontinent's culture in historical as well as its character Vazeer Khanum.  This article evaluates Vazeer Khanum's character viz-a-viz feministic point of view and Jacques Derrida's (1930-2004) theory of archive and post-colonialism. Derrida's Archive Fever has influenced the archival discourses much and the article analyses the alternative discourse that Shamsur Rahman Farooqi has given in his novel. It also discusses the feministic portrayal of Vazeer Khanum.
